Islamic Symbols
Crescent MoonThe crescent moon is not always excepted by muslims because it was originally a pagan symbol. It was then used as the symbol of Constantinople. When the Turks captured Constantinople during the Ottoman Empire, the Ottoman Empire decided to take this as it's symbol as well. Because the majority of its population was muslim, this was then considered an Islamic symbol. The star was thought to be added to represent the Five Pillars of Islam.
