LotusThe lotus flower represents an awakening, spiritual growth, enlightenment, and purity of body, speech, and mind in Buddhism. This is because these flowers start as a stem at the bottom of a murky lake. They then slowly grow upwards until they finally break the water's surface. They have to overcome many obstacles in order to feel the sunshine on their petals. It also seems to be fragile, but it has a strong stem underwater. Buddhism teaches that most people are just the buds, growing towards the sun.

The Endless KnotThe endless knot shows how compassion and wisdom are intertwined. It also shows how all things are connected to each other, and it represents the mutual dependance of religious doctrines and secular affairs.
